THEME
DECODING & RECODING TO TRANSFORM FOR CONTEXTUALLY RELEVANT HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION
WELCOME MESSAGE
The University of KwaZulu-Natal in collaboration with the Durban University of Technology will be hosting the 22nd annual conference of the Southern African Association of Health Educationalists (SAAHE). The theme for the SAAHE 2024 conference is:
“DECODING AND RECODING TO TRANSFORM FOR CONTEXTUALLY RELEVANT HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION”
This theme emphasises the need to rethink and redesign the education of health professionals in response to the ever-changing healthcare landscape. It calls for a deliberate effort to decode and recode established practices through the power of AI and technology, thereby ensuring that education remains relevant, adaptable, inclusive, and aligned with the evolving needs of healthcare professionals and the communities they serve.
This conference is an eminent annual event for all academics, researchers and healthcare practitioners involved in the training of students in the medical and allied healthcare fields in southern Africa. Scheduled for 25-28 June 2024, in the vibrant setting of uMhlanga, at the Gateway Hotel, the program will encompass a variety of interesting and innovative presentations in exciting new formats structured around pertinent and contemporary sub-themes.
Delegates from South Africa, Africa and international educational institutes are invited to attend and participate in the SAAHE 2024 conference. The conference will feature insights from distinguished international and national guest speakers, from both public and private sectors, who have special interests in health professions education. An important objective of this conference is to sustain and enrich the dialogues within the diverse domains of health science education across the southern African regions, with a concurrent emphasis on nurturing interprofessional collaboration and communication within health professional training and practice.
Furthermore, the conference presents a valuable platform for networking among academics, researchers, healthcare practitioners, students, and delegates from governmental organizations, NGOs, and industry. We welcome individuals from all sectors to seize this opportunity to showcase your organisation, research contributions, and innovative practices and actively contribute to the advancement of health professions education in southern Africa. We eagerly anticipate your enthusiastic participation and collaborative engagement in SAAHE 2024.
Durban is a city that boasts a diverse culinary scene, an exquisite coastline, friendly people, a captivating mix of natural beauty, cultural diversity, historical significance, and a wide range of adventure opportunities.
